The painting desk has seen a break from soldiery over the last week as I tried to clear a backlog of scenic items picked up on my recent trip to the UK - and some non combat figures that had been lying around since last year. The figures are all 10mm scale from Pendraken. The buildings are 6mm Battlescale miniatures that I use for tabletop towns and villages with 10mm soldiers.
The photograph above shows completed sets of gabbions, pack horses, two wagons, sheep and bullocks. These bring the stock of field defences and supply train elements up to as much as are likely ever to be needed.

A set of walls and hedges has also been done. Some more hedges may be needed for larger ECW games |
On the building front, four Dutch style town houses, a thatched cottage, a farm, a ruin and three watermills are now done. Why I bought three watermills is a mystery to me but they look nice. I think I now have ample farming and village buildings but could do with some more timber frame town houses. The other scenic element still in short supply is trees but as this is being written another parcel from Sam's Trees is in the post so that deficit will soon be addressed.
You may have taken a break from painting figures last week but you certainly were not idle. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteEarlier this afternoon I sat down to work out what the next project should be. Five interesting painting tasks were there to choose from, together with a rebasing of my ancient cavalry which I have been putting off for ages. To choose, in best wargamer fashion I rolled a D6. The result was rebasing! So, no more painting for a while, or so I thought until pulling out a drawer of Gallic cavalry I found tucked at the back two unopened packs of Gallic chariots. I take this as a sign that they should be painted, to keep my eye in and spirits up as the dreary work of rebasing goes on : )
DeleteI don’t mind rebasing so much. The result is like getting new armies without all of the painting.
