Reflecting at the end of another year

The figure above is not something that I have painted during 2024.  He is Vespasian from King & Country's collection of Roman Emperors.  I thought he would make a suitably brooding presence to place on the back of the battlefield to encourage Roman troops to try harder in the coming year.

This year ends with rebasing of ancient cavalry in full swing, though going off at a tangent to add some Gallic chariots into the bargain.

24 Celtic light cavalry put on new mdf bases

First batch flocked and ready for action

Second batch ready as well

Chariot production in full swing.  There has been a bit of mission creep here as well.  A Bad Squiddo Goddess Athena has been added to the production line to give the opposition to the Romans a bit of encouragement.  I am happy to find that the Romans equated their goddess Minerva with Athena, and Minerva was also linked to the Celtic goddess Belisama, so on that connection I need have no qualms with fielding her with Celtic armies as well as Greeks.  Some figures for command bases for Celtic armies have also been added and I am beginning to think that one more chariot needs to be bought to serve as taxi for another command figure.

A New Year's resolution will be to keep focus and get the rebasing done before launching into more projects.  Let us see how that works out.  May your paint flow smoothly in the year ahead.
